Prof. Sifeng Liu Selected for Marie Curie - International Incoming FellowshipProfessor Sifeng Liu, the editor-in chief of the Journal of Grey System and Grey Systems: Theory and Application and a distinguished professor with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics(NUAA) has been selected for the Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships - FP7-PEOPLE- 2013-IIF, a plan under the 7th Research Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission, making him the first scholar engaged in grey system research selected to the plan. Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowships is a special fund plan established by the European Commission to subsidize outstanding researchers outside EU countries, and aims at attracting outstanding international scholars to conduct research, transmission and exchange activities in Europe, thus developing mutually beneficial cooperation in scientific research. Having engaged in grey system theory research for 30 years, Professor Liu has made important contributions to the theory initiated by Chinese scholars and has a high reputation across the world. In 1980s, he put forward series of new models and concepts such as Sequence operator, Absolute degree of grey incidence, Grey cluster evaluation model with fixed weight and Positioned coefficient of grey< matrix. Then in the 1990s, he proposed Buffer operator and its axiom system, Generalized degree of grey incidence, Grey number and measurement of its information content, LGPG drifting and positioning solution, the range suitable for GM(1,1) model, Grey-econometrics model, Grey Cobb-Douglass model, etc. All of these achievements earned him great attention and recognition among domestic and foreign counterparts; some results were even specially introduced in many experts’ monographs. At the turn of the century, he proposed the concept of General grey numbers, the Grey algebraic system based on kernel and degree of greyness, the Even difference GM(1,1) model and the Original difference GM(1,1) model, as well as structuring a New model of grey incidence analysis based on visual angle of similarity and nearness, a Three dimensional model of grey incidence analysis, two new grey cluster evaluation model based on end-point and center-point mixed triangular whitenization weight functions. A Two-stage decision model with grey synthetic measure, and a new multi-attribute intelligent grey target decision model, were also proposed. Appointed as a research professor by De Montfort University,
Professor Liu will stay in Leicester, UK to engage in grey system
theory research with the host Professor, Yingjie Yang. They will
recruit and training PhD students who are interested in Grey System
Research with both De Montfort University and NUAA. There are
also opportunities for full scholarships and PhDs at the Institute for
Grey Systems Studies(IGSS), NUAA, China. Both the Chinese University
Program and the EU Program scholarship cover all tuition, board and
lodging to encourage doctoral
students from EU member countries to study and research in China in
order to promote mutual understanding between China and EU members. |

The Journal of Grey System contributes to the advance of knowledge directly related to the fundamental theory and practical applications of Grey System. All the papers on developments of methodology, modeling technological and practical applications of Grey System are welcome. It aims to foster a professional platform between leading scientists and practitioners from around the world to express their concerns, describe new methods, models, techniques and discuss application skill with grey system, as well as various contributions of hybrid approaches combining grey system theory with other theories for tackling uncertain information more effectively and efficiently. In brief, the journal encourages and focuses on the development of functional methods, models, techniques and applications of Grey System. Scope/CoverageThe journal is a forum of the highest professional quality for both scientists and practitioners to exchange ideas and publish new discoveries on a vast array of topics and issues in grey system. It aims to bring forth anything from either innovative to known theories or practical applications in grey system. It provides everyone opportunities to present, criticize, and discuss their findings and ideas with others. A number of areas of particular interest (but not limited) are listed as follows:
